Twitter Discussion Group for teachers

If you use Twitter and you want to take part in a weekly discussion group it's simple:
Just do a search for #eltchat and you can take part. The best way to do it is from a free programme called Tweetdeck that you can download onto your desktop then you can look at different columns and read tweets whilst adding your own thoughts and insits. You can also meet likeminded teachers in this way and start following them on Twitter too.

When you finish your course you may not want to hear your tutor's voice again!! But if you do, you can listen to the podcasts below:

Activity One: Professional Podcasts

Here are some words of wisdom for you to listen to:

1. Clarifying new language

2. Questions in the classroom

3. Teaching skills

How are these podcasts useful?
Go to this site to make your own vocaroo which you can then save or embed on a wiki or simply send to someone by email. How could you use this in your teaching?
Make a vocaroo now if you'd like to and post it on the discussion page: top of this page on the right. (In your vocaroo tell us quickly how yuo could use the tool with your TP students.)

Activity Two: Sharing ideas after your course

You may be working in a very creative environment where people want to share their ideas, lesson plans, activities and thoughts with you... but you might not. If you don't have support where you work one place to find it is on the Internet. Look at these different ways of staying in touch and extending your knowledge and expertise. Decide which ones you would like to do when you finish this course and comment below saying what attracts you to this (To modify the text click on edit and then you can type. Please use a different colour when you type so that we can see where each comment begins and ends):

  1. Dave's ESL Café
  2. http://hartlelearning.wordpress.com/
  3. http://www.teachertrainingvideos.com/
  4. http://eltchat.com/

Decide together what the advantages of each of these are.
